Portfolio Day is around the corner! We are so excited to invite you to take your first step towards becoming a student at NSCAD University. Below you will be able to sign up for a portfolio review with one of our excellent faculty reviewers.
Based on the response from many of you, we have decided to pivot Portfolio Day to an online format. There will be a virtual presentation on how to apply and portfolio requirements, and then portfolio reviews will take place throughought the day. In your confirmation email, you will receive an appointment time and a link to follow at that time to join your faculty reviewer for your review.
HOW TO APPLY PRESENTATION
At 9:30 AM Atlantic Daylight Time we will be hosting a presentation on the details of putting an application and portfolio together. In the confirmation email, which will be sent out the week of October 11 - 15, there will be a link to join the presentation.
WHAT IS PORTFOLIO DAY?
A portfolio is a collection of artwork that you have made that exemplifies your interests, commitment, and skills in art and design. The portfolio that you submit when applying to NSCAD University demostrates to the admissions committee your readiness to be a student here.
On Portfolio Day, you have the opportunity to receive helpful and encouraging feedback on your portfolio as you prepare to apply. Whether you are applying for Fall 2022 and have a robust portfolio or are still a few years away and are just starting to build your portfolio, Portfolio Day can give you a gentle push in the right direction.
SIGN UP FOR A PORTFOLIO REVIEW!
Portfolio reviews will be offered from 10 AM Atlantic Daylight Time to 5:30 PM Atlantic Daylight Time. Please indicate in the form to the right a time that works best for you and we will do our best to accomodate your preference.
An email confirming your registration will include the time of your appointment as well as a link to join your review at the time specified. Don't worry if you don't receive the confirmation email right away. It will be sent out between October 11 - 15.
Please have your files ready on your screen when you join your review. Once admitted to the meeting, you will share your screen so that you can view and discuss your work together with the faculty reviewer.

Happening on the same day as Portfolio Day is Nocturne: Art at Night. Nocturne is an independent, free, contemporary art festival in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. Each October the festival brings art and energy to the streets of our city. The completely free annual event showcases and celebrates the visual arts scene in Mi'kma'ki/Nova Scotia.
So many NSCAD alumni, students, and faculty are participants in Nocturne. Once your portfolio review is done, go check out the exciting and thought-provoking art all over the city!
